Roller Blinds for Christmas Season!
Christmas is in the air! This is the time where we often hear joyous Christmas songs. They say that Christmas is children’s time. That is why we can see children with wide eyes opening their gifts on Christmas Eve. Christmas is the best occasion that most people have been waiting for in year-end. People unite in Christmas time; it is the occasion where most individuals learn to share their blessings to others. Christmas does not mean to spend too much for a luxury party. A great way to celebrate Christmas is to share happiness and blessings to everyone and a wonderful Christmas decoration at home will add up to the joyful holiday spirit!
Some home owners opted for Roller Blinds for their windows to uplift the stunning look of their Christmas theme and to protect as well their Christmas decors from direct sun rays during the day. The Roller Blinds installed in their windows adds a simple yet stunning look. It put a sense Christmas Spirit because of their limitless Christmas decors, from their main door up to their entire house.
Roller blinds are an aspect of decorating that doesn’t usually stray from the typical. Traditional blinds lay flat and straight and may not seem the most obvious item in a home to decorate. However, the blank canvas element of this window covering makes it an ideal spot for some sprucing up, particularly around the holidays. Adding a few Christmas touches to basic blinds adds instant flair and is simple to complete with items that are easy to obtain. Tinsel, garland, holiday lights and ribbons can all be used to drum up some holiday cheer.
Tinsel is a festive tree embellishment, coming in colours like silver, gold and blue. Spread some strings of tinsel over the top of a set of blinds, letting the strands hang down just as they would on a tree. The tinsel can even be placed in between individual blinds, creating a shimmering waterfall from top to bottom.
Pretty green garland never fails to set the Christmas mood. Use real or fake garland to adorn plain blinds, lining the garland over the top of the covering just as you would a fireplace mantel. Embellish the garland with small objects, like candy canes or shining ornaments. This is a perfect spot to place those leftover tree decorations that won't fit on the tree.
Twinkling holiday lights brighten up a space and create a warm, cosy atmosphere. Hang strings of lights over blinds to add light, even when the shades are drawn and the sun has set. Use an extension cord if necessary to ensure the strings can be plugged in. This technique can be used to hang a multitude of lights, from classic white lights to rainbow coloured bulbs.
Collect leftover ribbons not used on wrapped gifts and put them to good use. Wrap the ribbons over and between the blinds, dressing up an otherwise dull spot. The ribbons can be all in one colour, or in alternating shades of red and green to create contrast. Top it off with a big bow made from ribbons, placed at the top centre of the window covering. The overall effect turns a set of blinds into a charming Christmas package.
Don't rely solely on decorations purchased at a store. Collect some items from a lawn to bring the outdoors inside. Decorating a home for Christmas doesn't have to be kept to just the tree and the stockings. Paying attention to non-traditional spots, like the roller blinds, adds whimsy and fun throughout the entire house. Items like ribbons and lights are usually readily on hand and create instant holiday spirit without too much stress or planning.

Know The Difference Between Blinds and Shades
Every
home has many windows that serve important purposes of allowing light and fresh
air inside the rooms. However, there are times when you do not want all of the
sunlight to come inside the room and wish you had control over the amount of
light entering the room. Nevertheless, though this may be the reason to go for
various means to cover a window of your room, people use them for different
features that are available with means to cover windows. Two such means of
covering windows are blinds and shades.
Seems
silly, and maybe it doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme of
things. However, there is tons of confusion surrounding these two mundane and everyday terms, a
blind and a shade are not one in
the same.
Many people assume that window blinds and window shades are interchangeable names for two of the most commonly used window shading system. Although both options can control lighting, affect a room’s temperature and enhance privacy, their one common difference - the slats. Blinds have combinations of many slats, or also known as louvers, while shades only have one piece.

Although both options can control lighting, affect a room’s temperature and enhance privacy, their one common difference - the slats. Blinds have combinations of many slats, or also known as louvers, while shades only have one piece.
Blinds allow more light control and privacy
than window shades because of its ability to be rotated back and forth. It can
also be completely lowered yet allow some light to still come through because
of the movable slats which are stacked one above (horizontal blinds) or below
(vertical blinds) each other. Blinds
used to be the preferred method for people wanting maximum control over light.
In recent years, the top down/bottom up option has become more popular. It
allows you to lower the top of the shade, letting a lot or a little light in,
without giving up your privacy.
A shade on the other hand doesn’t have
movable slats and typically composed of one piece of material that raises and
lowers. It can be pleated and stacked at the top of the window. Shades made of
fabric have great heat reduction and insulation properties. A window shade
doesn’t collect much dust which is commonly a problem with blinds. A shade is generally one piece of material
that rises and lowers, but does not have moveable slats. Shades are the
preferred insulators.
Now that you know the difference between
window blinds and shades, you can now decide which one is best suited for your
windows. One of the most recommended
blinds companies that offer quality and safety blinds is Sydney Blinds and Screens. Protect you family with these amazing blinds that soothe your need and
style!

Is Your Home Child Safe?
Is Your Home Child Safe?
Blind and Curtain Cord Hazards
Loose blinds and curtain cords/chains-particularly those with loops-are dangerous.
A child can place the loop over their head or get tangled in loose cords when:
• sleeping in a cot or bed where cords are hanging
• playing near cords
• standing on a chair, sofa or bed to look out of the window
Steps for Protecting Children
Sydney Blinds & Screens installs your custom made internal blinds in accordance with National Standards introduced in December 2010.
The following four simple steps ensure that blind and curtain cords/chains in your home are out of reach of children, particularly children under six.
1. Check for loose or looped cords that your child can reach from the floor or by climbing on furniture. Immediately tie cords out of reach and move any furniture away.
2. Secure loose cords out of reach. If you have purchased your blinds from Sydney Blinds & Screens, we automatically sup-ply you with all cleats and tensioning devices.
3. Choose safe blinds and curtains, from a company that com-plies with the national mandatory standard. Read the warn-ing labels attached to your product. Ensure all cords or chains are secure and there are no loops or strands that children can reach.
4. Move anything a young child can sit in, stand or climb on away from cords/chains, even those tied around a cleat, as your child may be able to untie them.

Invisi-Scape Emergency escape security screens
Invisi-Scape Emergency escape security screens
are becoming more essential as total home security measures increase.
In some instances, the security screens that you fit to keep intruders
outside could actually keep you inside in the event of a fire or emergency situation.
Invisi-Scape Emergency Escape Window Security Screens provide simple, keyless, one handed unlocking of the window security screen from the inside. Once unlocked, the security screen then hinges or slides open to allow a path of escape.
New homes and renovations of today often incorporate large windows as features in the overall design of the home. The minimal frame dimensions of Invisi-Scape screens ensure that maximum viewing area is retained, this is further enhanced by the clarity of vision through the 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel Mesh.
An additional benefit of fitting an Invisi-Scape screen to your window is the ease of cleaning and in the case of accidental breakage, replacement of the window glass.
Invisi-Scape Emergency Escape Window Security Screens combine the proven strength and security of 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel Mesh with extruded aluminium perimeter framing to create a security window screen that looks great whilst providing excellent security.
Incorporating the unique patented EGP Retention System, Invisi-Scape Emergency Escape Window Security Screens can be custom manufactured to open Inwards, Outwards or as a Double Sliding configuration to fit many brands and styles of window.

Some Tips to Keep Your child Safe When Unsupervised
Doors are the first and most commonly used point
of entry into the house. Being so, it
must be able to keep us safe from burglars and intruders especially during the
night when we are resting and sleeping. And when burglars and intruders can’t enter
the house through the door, they will try using the windows. That is why they must also be secured.
But windows and doors must not only secure
us from intruders, it must also secure us, especially our kids, from leaving
and falling from the house through these openings. It is best to also keep in mind the kids and
the harm they can obtain from unsafe doors and windows.
Here are some tips to make your doors and
windows child-safe:
·
When you have blinds installed,
make sure that there are no loose blinds and curtain cords. These things are very dangerous to children
whenever they are near the windows.
·
Secure loose cords and tie them
up making sure that the children cannot reach them.
·
Avoid placing chairs, tables or
any other furniture near a window that they can climb on. This will prevent them from reaching the
curtain cords and climbing through the window.
·
When purchasing blinds,
curtains or other additions to your windows and door, take some time to read
the warning label. As much as possible,
choose those that comply with the national standards.
·
Installing door and window
screens are helpful to keep kids from going out the door or climbing through
the window. Just make sure that it is
not just a fly screen, rather, a security screen. A fly screen, sometimes, cannot withstand the
weight and force of the child. A
security screen, on the other hand, can, most often, withstand the weight of a
child
·
Choose door and window screens
that are made from material that does not react or deteriorate easily when
exposed to sun, water and dirt.
Materials that easily corrode are harmful to kids especially if they
make contact to such screens. Opt for
the one that have materials that can withstand the elements mentioned. A good example would be stainless screens and
meshes.
·
If it is possible, install
screens that still lets you see the beauty of your environment. Avoid installing those that blurs the view of
the surroundings from inside the house.
This will prevent children from trying to get through the screen to have
a good look of the things they see outside.

Basic Styles of Plantation Shutters
Plantation shutters are a very good
addition to your house. They are
installed in windows and doors for both its decorative and functional
purposes. It can easily blend in the
design of your house since there are many designs, colors and finishes that you
can choose from. But before you choose
the design, color and finish you want, think first of the style that you want.
There are three (3) basic styles of
plantation shutters – full height, café style and tier on tier. Find out which of these will suit your home.
Full
Height Shutters.
As the name suggests, this is a type of shutter encompassing the whole
opening of the window, and sometimes, doors.
It can easily blend in the design of the house, exterior and interior
alike. If your house has large windows,
you can maximize and control the sun and air going inside the house using this
style of shutter. When used for doors,
especially those large ones leading to garden at the back of the house, it can
easily blend in to the wall when closed.
Although you can opt for the style that only the top half is composed of
slats while the bottom half is a solid one.
In this way, you can create an illusion of a smaller window.
Café
Style Shutters.
This type of shutter does not encompass the whole opening. Rather, it covers only the lower part of the
window. It is a popular choice for cafés
that’s why it has been names as such.
Because of its design, it is not recommended for areas where you want
privacy. Of the tree styles, this has
the least control over the sunlight coming into the house. Suggested areas to install one are the
kitchen and windows overlooking the backyard garden or pool. Installing this style of shutter in these
areas enables you to be aware of the things happening in and around the
house. This is useful if you have kids
around so you will be able to monitor them while doing other things. This also gives the effect of the continuity
of the areas while distinguishing them from one another.
Tier
on Tier Shutters. This style is when the shutter is divided into
a top and a bottom part. They can be
closed and open separately giving more control of the light coming into the
house. This can be used in living rooms,
kitchen, dining area or bedrooms. You
can install it almost anywhere where you want more control of the
sunlight. The advantage of this style is
that you can specify if you want to open the top, bottom or both parts at any
given time.

Invisi-Gard and it's Many Uses.
Sydney Blinds & Screens introduces its
product, Invisi-gard, for added home security without compromising the
aesthetics of your house and the view you and your kids enjoy from the inside.Invisi-gard
is made from high tensile steel mesh with aluminium frame joined by a patented
Extreme Grip Protection (EGP) retention system.
The product uses 316 Marine Grade Stainless
Steel Mesh which has a high resistance to corrosion that makes it outperform
other stainless security products. The
EGP retention system makes sure that the mesh does not touch the frame to avoid
threats of corrosion. It is also hard to
cut which makes it ideal for security purposes.
The product technology has been tested to
withstand repetitive attempts of break-in by kicking on the door. It has been tested and conforms to Australian
Standard AS5039-2003 to guarantee that the product if of very high quality.
Invisi-gard can be fitted and used in
window screens, hinged doors, sliding doors, escape doors, and other openings
that you have in your house. It can be
bought as a pre-made product or can be ordered for a custom made one to ensure
exact fitting to your windows and doors.
It can also be used in large windows that are now being incorporated in
new homes and renovations. Using grills
in these large windows usually do not conform to the over-all design of the
house while Invisi-gard will blend in to almost any design.
Although the product is marketed in the
pitch of home security, it also has advantages for the security of your
kids. Because of the strength of the
stainless mesh used, it won’t be easily cut avoiding protruding wires that can
harm your children. It is also common
for children to put their hands on anything.
With the high resistance of the product to corrosion, your children can
be safe from harmful effects of metal corrosion.
Another advantage of the Invisi-gard is
that it allows you to see the outside of your home even when it is closed. In this way, you and your children does not
have to go outside just to get a good look of the scenery. You can all enjoy it while having the
security provided by the product.
It is natural for kids to be curious of
what they see beyond the windows and it is an instinct for them to go through
the window to get nearer or to have a better look. And this is a common cause of children
falling from the windows. But with
Invisi-gard, you can be assured that whey won’t be able to get through to the
window especially during those times that they are left unattended.
Keeping our families safe is an utmost
importance to all of us. More often,
providing that security in our homes will mean compromising the design of the
house and limiting the people inside of a view of the surroundings. But with Invisi-gard, you can now enjoy the
beauty of your surroundings while staying safe.
